 | Race Day Styling Tips for Women | | The Spring Carnival and Melbourne Cup races are a fun time of year. Spring has arrived, the weather is beautiful but not too hot and the races are the perfect opportunity to glam up and wear that fabulous dress or two piece suit you have been eyeing in the shops. Now the only thing left to do is choose the perfect hat for your outfit. After all the races are not the races without the hat! Selecting the perfect hat can sometimes be challenging with all the different colours and designs available, but don’t despair, there is a hat style for all. The trick to selecting a great hat is understanding what hat styles and colours compliment you. Isobel and Anna have some tips and advice to help you put together the perfect outfit for the races: * Hats are worn close to your face so select colours that best suit you. A plain black hat, for example can be ageing if black is not one of your best colours * Spring is all about colour you will see purples, blues, corals and pinks – have some fun * If you keep your accessories simple it is much easier to match them to your outfit * Coordinate your hat and outfit so they complement each other. Think about the styles and colours of your hat, outfit, shoes and handbag in advance. This may sound silly but it will save last minute stress and a well-coordinated outfit not only outfit stands out but makes you feel amazing * If your hat is your focal point then let it make a statement and keep your outfit simple * If your race day dress is the focal point then select a hat that does not compete * A great bag and a fabulous pair of shoes will pull your whole outfit together * Choose a hat that not only suits the occasion but also the season. Hats made of straw, silk and light materials are perfect for the Spring Races * Ladies if you are planning to wear a dress that you would normally wear out at night then it is probably not suitable for the races. Select a daywear dress instead and keep this one for evening functions. * Pill box hats are back this season so step out in style * Avoid the tandoori tan * Don’t show too much skin…remember to leave some things to the imagination! |
